Rural Rate Relief
Certain properties wholly or partially situated within a
designated rural settlement may be eligible for rural rate relief.
Mandatory relief of 50 per cent can be applied to a general
store, Post Office, food shop, public house or petrol filling
station. Specific conditions apply with limits to the rateable
value of the property.
In certain circumstances discretionary rural rate relief can be
awarded to top up this relief to 100 per cent. Any discretionary
relief awarded will come from the Council's general fund and must
be in the interest of the council taxpayers within the Borough.
