Broxbourne Business Fair 2008

The Borough Council held its second business
fair for Broxbourne at Wolsey Hall, Windmill Lane, Cheshunt on
Friday 30 May. There were over 200 attendees, including
exhibitors and visitors. There were forty exhibition stands,
from the private, public and voluntary sectors, including stalls
for Borough Council services. The event was opened by the
Mayor of Broxbourne, Councillor Mrs Carol Crump-Eynon, and
sponsored by Aldwyck Housing Association, Broxbourne Housing
Association, Barclays Bank, Tesco and Axis magazine.
The purpose of the fair was to increase
prosperity in the Borough by offering advice and information on a
range of topics relevant to local businesses, facilitating business
to business networking, fostering links between the public sector
and the business sector and encouraging residents to think about
starting up their own businesses.
The Olympic Delivery Authority made a lunchtime
presentation on procurement opportunities at the 2012 Olympics for
local businesses, including the brokerage service for buyers
throughout the London 2012 supply chain, and potential suppliers,
‘CompeteFor’. Exhibiting organisations were also able to take
advantage of the networking opportunities which the fair presented,
and exhibitors and visitors were able to listen to short talks on
starting up a business by Business Link, and ‘The seven main
marketing mistakes that most businesses make’ by Andrew Ludlam, a
locally-based independent marketing consultant. These talks
were followed by question and answer sessions.
