Catering Vehicles on the Public Highway
In the Borough of Broxbourne food can only be sold on the public
highway in area designated as'consent streets', all other
roads in the borough have been designated as 'prohibited streets'
and it is an offence to trade in a prohibited street.
Current consent streets in the Borough are:
- Pindar Road, Hoddesdon
- Charlton Mead Lane, Hoddesdon
- Britannia Road, Waltham Cross
- Delamare Road, Cheshunt
- Fieldings Road, Cheshunt
- Cadmore Lane, Cheshunt
How to make an application
In order to trade in the Borough a licence must be issued.
This is valid for a period of twleve months and the current cost is
£371. A licence cannot be granted to a person under the age of
seventeen years and it is personal to the consent holder and cannot
therefore be transferred to another person.
To be added to the current waiting list please complete an
application
form and return it to the Borough Offices at the address shown
on the form.
- The Council may permit a trader to trade from
a stationary van, cart, barrow or other vehicle or from a portable
stall.
- Where it is proposed to sell hot food and
drinks the consent holder shall insure against public liability in
the minimum sum of £10m for any one incident. We require a
certificate of insurance to this effect together with employees
liability where appropriate.
- Relevant checks by this authority’s Environmental Health
Department must be carried outprior to consent being granted.
- Fees and appropriate documentation must be produced prior to
any consent being issued.
