Corporate responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility
The Council is keen to promote corporate social responsibility
and encourage businesses to contribute to sustainable
development, taking into account the economic, social and
environmental impacts of the way they operate to maximise
the benefits and minimise the downsides.
Short workshop sessions were held on corporate social
responsibility at last year's Broxbourne Business Fair at Grundy
Park, covering issues such as energy saving, the environment
and links with the voluntary sector. The workshops featured
presentations from Dacorum CVS, who are leading the local
'Championing Corporate Social Responsibility Project' and the
Hertfordshire Resource
Efficiency Club, which provides free advice for businesses
on sustainability issues such as waste minimisation and energy
efficiency.
Further information about corporate social responsibility is
available on the
Government's corporate social
responsibility website.
Hertfordshire Materials Exchange
Hertfordshire Materials
Exchange is a free online information service where
organisations can access information about redundant or surplus raw
materials from other organisations. Its main aim is to help
users dispose of surplus materials at little or no cost, enable
others to source cheaper raw materials that others no longer need
and reduce the amount of useful materials going to landfill or
incineration. More information and details of how to register
are available on their website.
