Caravan Site Licence
A licence is required, under the Caravan Sites and Control of
Development Act 1960, for land that is used for the provision of
living accommodation comprising of caravans/mobile homes.
It is an offence to operate a caravan site without a valid
licence or in non-compliance with conditions attached to any
licence issued.
Licences last for the same period as the planning permission
required for this purpose, unless revoked. Applications must be
made before the land in question is used for such a purpose.
The use of land as a caravan site will require planning
permission. Erection of additional facilities or changing the use
of existing premises may require prior approval under Town and
Country Planning Acts and/or building regulations.
The site will always be inspected before a licence is issued and
inspections to assess compliance with licence conditions may be
made at any time thereafter.
If you are thinking of setting up a caravan site you should
discuss your proposals with one of our officers before incurring
any expenditure.
