Statement of Licensing Policy
The Council is obliged under the Licensing Act
2003 to publish a statement of licensing policy to which it will
abide when exercising its functions as a licensing authority. The
Council currently has a policy covering the period 2005 to 2008.
However, it is required to review, re-consult and re-publish its
statement every three years.
Following a consultation period, the policy
for the period 2008-2011 was agreed at the Council meeting held on
30 October 2007. The Council encouraged the submission of
representations, comments and views relating to the policy from
responsible authorities, interested parties and local residents.
Several comments and responses were received by the closing date.
These were carefully considered and where appropriate, and in
accordance with the DCMS Guidance and the Act, the policy was
updated. A list of all the comments received and the Council’s
deliberation of them is available below. The new policy will take
effect on 7 January 2008.
