2018 has been designated the ‘Hertfordshire Year of Physical Activity’ and will see a number of organisations from both in and out of the sporting arena working together in support of making Hertfordshire the most active county.

Winners announced at Active Broxbourne Sports Awards

International success by Broxbourne’s best sporting talent and the work of volunteers at clubs were celebrated at the Active Broxbourne Sports Awards.

Shining stars of the Borough’s sporting community gathered at the Spotlight in Hoddesdon on Wednesday 29 November for a special award ceremony hosted by Sky Sports’ Formula One commentator, David Croft.

Presentations were interspersed by routines from local dance groups, Vallé Academy, and Cheshunt Dance and Performing Arts School. Sapphire Elite Cheerleaders kicked things off to provide a lift to proceedings right away.

Nominations open for Broxbourne Youth Awards 2018

Young people doing amazing things are set to be celebrated in the Broxbourne Youth Awards 2018 and nominations are now open.

Broxbourne Council is inviting the public, clubs and organisations to put forward local young people and those who work to provide services for young people in 14 categories to recognise and celebrate their achievements.

Online nominations were formally opened on Wednesday 22 November at the 2017 Mayoral Debate for Secondary Schools at Broxbourne Council.

Leaders meet ahead of Year of Community 2018

Faith and community leaders attended a meeting at the Council to share ideas for the Borough of Broxbourne’s special Year of Community in 2018.
 
Reverends from five churches and representatives of cross-denominational organisations, including Broxbourne Foodbank, Young Life and Street Pastors, contributed to the discussion on Thursday 16 November.
 
The event was hosted by Councillor Paul Seeby, Cabinet Member for Planning and Community Development, and the Council’s Community Development Manager, who began with a presentation about the year ahead.

Dedication ceremony at Woollensbrook Crematorium

An official ceremony to mark the opening of Woollensbrook Cemetery and Crematorium took place on Tuesday 31 October.
 
The service was led by the Right Reverend Dr Michael Beasley, Bishop of Hertford who was joined by the Leader of Broxbourne Council, the Mayor, Civic leaders, and representatives from across the spectrum of religions and beliefs who have used the new cemetery and crematorium.

Here's our calendar of Christmas events...

Christmas festivities, lights and markets are set to line the streets of the Borough’s town centres to help residents get into the festive spirit.

A feast for all the senses will fill high streets with the warm glow of lights, the scent of mulled wine and food at markets and the sound of carol singing.

Impressive 25ft trees will be erected in Hoddesdon, Waltham Cross and Goffs Oak, sponsored by local businesses Nonna’s Kitchen (Hoddesdon), News International (Waltham Cross), and JMP Hire Ltd and Containit4u (Goffs Oak).
