The Great Summer Borough Walk

The annual Great Summer Borough Walk took place on Saturday 18 May throughout the Borough of Broxbourne.

 

The walk was a huge success, with over 40 residents of all ages taking part. This was the third Great Summer Borough Walk, and has become an established activity throughout Broxbourne, with many residents taking part.

 

This year, the route ventured into the Borough’s parks and open spaces, including Cheshunt Park, Whit Hern Park, Cedars Park and Grundy Park, as well as through the Lee Valley Regional Park.

 

Love Your Local Market Fortnight 17 to 31 May 2019

The Council will be celebrating Love Your Local Market (#LYLM2019) fortnight between 17 and 31 May 2019, and is inviting residents to shop locally at Waltham Cross and Hoddesdon town centre markets.
 
The markets, held between 8am and 4pm every Wednesday and Friday, provide a great opportunity for shoppers to buy fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables, artisan bread and cakes, and reasonably priced fashion and household goods.

New Leader, Mayor and Cabinet Members announced

At an annual Council meeting held on Tuesday 14 May 2019, Councillor Lewis Cocking was elected as the new Leader of the Broxbourne Borough Council.
 
Speaking proudly after his appointment as Leader, Councillor Lewis Cocking said: “I feel deeply honoured to have been elected Leader of the Council, and I am thankful of my colleagues for placing their confidence in me”
 
“I would also like to congratulate Councillor David Holliday, on his new role as the Deputy Leader, and thank the outgoing leader, Councillor Mark Mills-Bishop, for his work.”

May Half Term Kidz Klub

Parents can keep their children entertained this coming May half-term at Kidz Klub, taking place at The John Warner Sports Centre in Hoddesdon from Tuesday 28-Friday 31 May, 8.30am-5.30pm. 

There will be lots of activities for children aged four* to 12 years to enjoy, including trampolining, sports, arts and crafts, roller disco, Nerf wars and weird science. Swimming will be available for the older children on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, while the younger children can enjoy a visit to Scrambles soft play.

Landlords’ Forum, Wednesday 15 May

 

The next private sector Landlords' Forum will take place on Wednesday 15 May at 7pm in the Council Chamber at Bishops' College, with an additional drop-in session from 6.30pm.

The meeting is an opportunity for local landlords to discuss housing matters important to them with Council officers and guest speakers.

There will be a presentation from Matthew Oliver from The National Landlords Association, focusing on legislative updates and industry news, with the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions.
