War Memorials in Broxbourne
There are four war memorials in the Borough. These are located
in:
- Hoddesdon town centre;
- Churchfields, Broxbourne;
- Turners Hill, Cheshunt; and
- Goff's Lane, Goff's Oak.
All four war memorials were erected by public subscription
shortly after the First World War. Following the deaths of the
subscribers, Broxbourne Council has adopted the memorials and
now maintains them accordingly. Names of those lost in the
Second World War were added to the Goff's Oak and Hoddesdon
memorials sometime ago; to the Broxbourne memorial in
2007, and were added to the Cheshunt memorial in 2010.
Remembrance Sunday wreath laying ceremonies are performed at
each memorial, every year.
