Broxbourne in Bloom winners 2008

The annual Broxbourne in Bloom competition is now complete for 2008 and all individual category winners have been announced.  The competition invited residents, businesses and community groups within Broxbourne to show off their gardens for a chance to win up to £100 worth of gardening vouchers, donated by In-Ex Garden Centre in Goffs Oak.

Best Large Garden

 

First place was awarded to Mrs J Wells, from Goffs Oak.  Second place went to Mr and Mrs Wooding from Hoddesdon.  Mrs Wells also won the Roy Whiddon Memorial Trophy for the ‘Best Garden for All Seasons’.

 

Best Small Private Garden

 

First place went to Ms P Goodchild of Cheshunt. Ms Goodchild also won the ‘Best Private Container’ category. Second place went to Mrs S Cobb from Cheshunt, and third place went to Mrs J Knight, who is also from Cheshunt.

The Fred Hill Memorial Trophy for Best New Entry was won by Mr M Martin from Hoddesdon.

 

In the commercial competition, The Old English Gentleman was awarded ‘Best Public House’, and Cheshunt Marriott Hotel achieved ‘Best Business Frontage’. 

 

In the communal gardens competition, first place for ‘Best Garden’ and ‘Best Container’ went to Mrs P Crockett from Broxbourne.

 

 

All entrants have been invited to a prize giving and presentation on Wednesday 10 September, which will be hosted by Broxbourne in Bloom sponsors, In-ex Garden Centre of Goffs Oak.  The overall show winner will also be announced and prizes will be presented by the Mayor of Broxbourne, Councillor Mrs Carol Crump-Eynon.
