Broxbourne Council offers an annual
grant scheme to local voluntary organisations, charities and
community groups. Awards are granted for one financial year only.
The Council offers five types of award:
- National non-domestic rate relief - discount on business
rates
- Facility hire subsidy for the hire of Council facilities, eg.
Civic Hall/Grundy Park Leisure Centre
- Notional rental – discount on rent for
tenants of Council property
- Cash grants – for one-off projects and
running costs
- Capital grants/loans – for improvements to
buildings and equipment purchases
The grant scheme is not open
to individuals or commercial businesses. It is solely for local
voluntary organisations, charities and community groups.
Larger regional and national charities/organisations can apply but
applications must be for a specific project within the Borough of
Broxbourne that will benefit local residents.
Application
Process
The application process is
cyclical and all grant awards are for one financial year.
There is no limit on the number of times that an organisation,
charity or community group can apply but the expectation is that
only one application will be made in any one year.
Application
Forms
Application forms and
guidance notes will be made available on this website September
2012.
Timetable
The timetable for the annual grants
award process is as follows:-
September - applications for the
grants award year opens. Forms will become available online
by the last week of September. The deadline for applications
is announced but generally applications should be received by the
end of the first week in November.
January - March - Applications are
considered by the Grants Panel.
March - Applicants notified of
outcome.
April - Grant award payments made.
September - Annual application process
starts again.
Applicants will receive notification
of the outcome of their application by either letter or
email. In addition they will be contacted if any further
information is required. Applications received after the
closing date deadline will not be considered.
Other sources of
funding
The Council’s grant scheme
is only one of numerous sources of funding available to charities
and community organisations and the resources available to the
Council to support the grants scheme are
finite. Information is also available about how to
identify alternative sources of
funding. If you are planning an event to celebrate either the
Diamond Jubilee or the London 2012 Games, or if you are an
aspiring athlete, you may wish to apply to the Council's 2012 grant schemes.
The Grants
Panel
All grant awards are
determined by elected members at the Grants Panel. The membership
of the Panel is appointed annually by the Council. More information about the Grants Panel.
