Audit of the Local Community Updated and Republished

A review of the Community Plan for Broxbourne Audit Statement has now been completed and is available to download from the related links section on the right of the page, and at the Council’s one stop shops or by calling 01992 785592.

Community Plan Audit

The audit of the area provides a single comprehensive and wide ranging assessment of the characteristics of the local community, and its social and economic needs. It includes information on the local population, an economic profile of the area, levels of local educational attainment, the relative levels of deprivation, health and information on residents' views on priorities for local services.  The Audit helps the Council make policy decisions.  Understanding the socio-economic climate in the Borough helps the Council and partners to allocate resources to meet the social and economic needs of the community.

The Borough Council would like to extend its thanks to all agencies whose analyses of local social and economic conditions have been incorporated in the Audit statement.

Broxbourne Community Plan Resource InventoryResource Inventory Updated

The latest Community Plan Resource Inventory provides a summary of local services and social infrastructure serving Broxbourne, and is a snapshot of provision as at September 2006.  Each topic shows current provision in the Borough, and assesses issues for each service and its priority in the Community Plan. For many topics, maps are provided to show where services are located. It is intended that this document will provide a resource for the public. The document will be updated and republished regularly.  It is available to download from the related links section on the right of the page, and at the Council’s one stop shops or by calling 01992 785592.

The resource gaps identified in the document include:

  • day nurseries for children, especially in the south of the Borough
  • lack of suitable transport to access acute hospital services
  • affordable housing
  • provision of land for development for some land uses
  • out of school provision for children
  • activities for young people
  • hotel accommodation
  • financial support for the voluntary sector and the recruitment of
  • volunteers
  • community halls in Waltham Cross and West Cheshunt

These issues were taken forward as part of the review of the Community Plan for Broxbourne which was published in November 2006. In many cases action is already in progress to fill the gaps, for example a hospital shuttle bus to Chase Farm started running in April 2007 and was extended to serve several other hospitals in January 2008.
