Community safety partnership

Community Safety PlanPCSOs

Broxbourne Community Safety Partnership is comprised of the Council, Police and other statutory agencies. The Partnership is required by law to produce a rolling, three year Community Safety Plan. In line with this responsibility the partnership has produced the Community Safety Plan 2009 - 2012.

The plan details how the Broxbourne Community Safety Partnership will prioritise its resources and respond to the findings of an annual strategic assessment and the community safety issues that are of most concern to those who live and work in the Borough. It also takes into consideration all other relevant local, regional and national agendas.

The plan is a 'living document'. This means that the partnership constantly reviews the work it does and is therefore able to properly target resources to fight crime and disorder problems in the Borough.

Strategic Assessment

Broxbourne Community Safety Partnership has a duty to undertake an annual strategic assessment of local community safety priorities for the three year rolling Community Safety Plan. The aim of the strategic assessment is to provide an assessment of community safety issues affecting the Borough. The strategic assessment is intelligence-led and considers changes in the level and patterns of crime, disorder and substance misuse since the last assessment and why these changes have occurred. This strategic assessment is incorporated into a county level Community Safety Agreement. The Hertfordshire Constabulary Policing Plan will be closely tied into this.

As a result, the Strategic Assessment 2012/13 has been produced which identified the following:

Key findings and trends from the 2012/13 Strategic Assessment for the period August 2010 - July 2011:

  • All crime levels reduced by 6% from the same period last year
  • Anti-social behaviour down by 16.9%
  • Criminal damage down by 13.8%
  • Serious acquisitive crime down 18.3%
  • Dwelling burglaries down by 29.1%
  • Vehicle crime down by 12.8%
  • Shoplifting down by 12%
  • Burglary other up by 40.8%

Proposed community safety priorities for 2012/2013:

In light of the available data, the local community safety priorities identified in the 2012/13 Strategic Assessment are:

  • Reducing serious acquisitive crime, particularly burglary other and manage offenders more effectively
  • Continue to reduce domestic violence in the Borough
  • Maintain the multi-agency work to deal with parking outside schools and other illegal/obstructive parking
  • Continue to reduce the levels of anti-social behaviour, including enviro-crimes
  • Continue to engage the public to improve confidence/reassurance in the Police/Council and improve perceptions about anti-social behaviour
