Citizens panel

Formation of a citizens' panel

The Borough Council is exploring the formation of a citizens’ panel and is inviting Borough residents to become members. Over 200 residents have now signed up to the Broxbourne Citizens' Panel.

The first theme to be explored by the Citizens' Panel is 'older people'.  Focus group sessions are currently being held to gauge residents' perceptions of the services available for older people in Broxbourne.  Notes from all of the focus group sessions held so far are available to view in the related links section.

What is a citizens’ panel?

From time to time, the views and opinions of members of the panel will be sought on issues affecting the area and the community. These issues might include the panel’s views on the priority of these issues, how the Council might best target its resources, to comment on proposals for service development and to provide advice on the levels of local taxation and expenditure and related topics.

Will participation be voluntary?

Yes. Households may withdraw at any time.

How will these consultations with the panel take place?

Consultations will take place by letter, e-mail or through meetings in which members of the panel will be invited to participate in face-to-face discussions with the Council.

How can I express interest?

To join the Citizens' Panel, complete and submit a membership application form.  The form asks for some basic information and can be completed online in 5-10 minutes. You can also register for local email alerts
