Housing Strategy consultation
Housing Strategy 2009-14
(Draft Documents Uploaded - 14.11.2008)
The Council is beginning the process of developing a new housing
strategy for the next five years. The Housing Strategy will
set out the strategic direction and priorities for action for
housing in Broxbourne. It will cover both the public and private
sectors and relates to all aspects of housing policy. It will form
part of the Broxbourne Local Strategic Partnership’s (LSP)
Sustainable Community Strategy, which all councils in England are
required to produce.
A steering group comprising key representatives of the
Borough Council, County Council, Registered Social Landlords
and voluntary groups has been established to oversee the project.
The group wishes to consult widely with interested groups and
stakeholders as the strategy is developed.
Every local authority in the United Kingdom must produce a
housing strategy. The Broxbourne Housing Strategy sits under the
East of England Regional Housing Strategy, the London Commuter Belt
Sub-Regional Housing Strategy, the Local Area Agreement, and the
Community Plan. The new Housing Strategy will incorporate the
Affordable Housing Strategy, the Homelessness Strategy and the
Private Sector Housing Strategy. The Council will be using this
website to post draft documents for the 2009-14 Housing Strategy.
In addition to this, there is to be a public consultation event in
late November, where key stakeholders will be invited to give
feedback on the draft strategy. The draft strategy will be
formulated using a wide mix of data, including the results of the
consultation events held for the previous housing strategies.
