Licensing Policy Review
Licensing statement of policy review
2011-14
Under the Licensing Act 2003, Broxbourne
Borough Council is required to develop, consult and publish a
statement of licensing policy and review and republish it every
three years. The policy details the principles that the Council
will adhere to when exercising its licensing functions under the
Act. The current licensing policy for the period 2008-2011 is under
the process of review, a revised policy covering the period
2011-2014 will be published in January 2011.
The consultation period for the 2011-14 policy
review is currently underway. The Council is consulting with a
range of local bodies and organisations, to seek comment on a
proposed new statement. They include:
- the chief officer of police for the area
- the fire and rescue authority for the area
- existing licence holders within the borough,
and persons/bodies representative of the alcohol trade
- a number of other organisations or bodies,
both statutory and non-statutory, whom the licensing authority
believes to have sufficient expertise in relevant matters.
Proper weight will be given to all the views
of the above bodies when determining the final policy. In addition
the Council is inviting all existing licence holders to submit any
comments they may have on the new statement. The draft statement of
licensing policy for 2011-14 can be found in the related links
section on the right of this webpage. For comparison purposes, the
existing statement can also be found here. Additions to the policy
since 2008 are relatively few but include additional contact and
consultation information, and further guidance on the Council’s
approach to licensing reviews and enforcement.
The revised policy document can be found in
the ‘related links’ section on the right. Any comments you have on
the revised policy are welcome and can be sent to:
