The Queen's Diamond Jubilee
2 – 5 June 2012

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee is an
important event for the country and comes at an ideal time to be
incorporated into the 2012 celebrations.
To mark 60 years of The Queen's
reign, the celebrations centred around an extended weekend between
the 2- 5 June 2012. To find out more please visit the Diamond Jubilee
website.

At noon, high water, on Sunday 3
June a thousand boats mustered on the River Thames in
preparation for The Queen to lead the Thames Diamond Jubilee
Pageant. In addition the 3 June saw 'The Big Lunch', a
very simple idea from the Eden Project; with nearly 2 million
people taking part last year. The aim is to get as many people as
possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their
neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.

On Monday 4 June 2012 there was a
star-studded concert, set against the spectacular backdrop of
Buckingham Palace, celebrating The
Queen's 60 year reign. Broadcast
live on BBC One and Radio 2, the concert was also open to
ticket-holding members of the public. Also, on the 4th of June
thousands of beacons were lit around the country and the world
to commemorate The Queen's 60 year reign over the UK and as head of
the Commonwealth.
The following events
also took place in the Borough to celebrate this special
