Equality objectives
Broxbourne Borough Council has identified five
equality objectives, which if adopted, will become the focus for
our work on equality over the coming years. These will be subject
to consultation and may be modified depending on the feedback
received.
| OBJECTIVE |
WHY WE FEEL THIS IS A PRIORITY |
| Ensure our services meet the changing needs of all
service users |
We are committed to providing fair and easy access to
Council services |
| Help address economic inequalities in partnership with
other organisations |
By working in partnership with others the Council can
reduce economic inequalities which have a negative impact on
residents |
| Have consultation and engagement mechanisms that are
effective and inclusive |
All local people should have the opportunity to influence
local decision making, many do, but we recognise that some
communities are harder to reach than others |
| Ensure the Council’s workforce is committed to
equality |
It is our staff that delivers services to the public and
it is therefore vital that they are properly trained and supported
to deliver those services to all sectors of our
community |
| Promote the Council’s commitment to equality in
partnerships, procurement activity and when commissioning our
services |
The Council can promote and enforce its equality
objectives by sharing these with suppliers, contractors and their
agents and by ensuring they help deliver these to the
community |
The Council is also reviewing its Corporate Equality
Scheme. A draft version is
available.
