Green Aiders

Following last year's success, the Groundwork Hertfordshire Green Aiders volunteering programme is commencing again in the Borough of Broxbourne.

Green Aiders is a gardening in the community scheme, giving local residents and volunteers the opportunity to make a real difference to the local community.  It is also a great way to make new friends, develop new skills, get fitter and spend valuable time with existing friends and family.  All ages and abilities are welcome to attend. The tasks are usually held on Saturday or Sunday mornings from 10am until 1pm.

More information, including task dates and times, can be found on the Groundwork Hertfordshire Green Aiders website.

Development of a Local Compact for Broxbourne

Compacts are agreements between local statutory agencies, the voluntary and community sector and other local public bodies to improve their relationship for mutual advantage. They aim to:

  • Improve communication, common understanding and collaboration between the voluntary and community sector and the statutory sector.
  • Set a framework for effective consultation, representation and partnership working including an agreement on definitions, shared values and joint and distinct undertakings.
  • Set out the principles for developing working relationships between the voluntary and community sector and the statutory sector.
  • Act as a reference point for the process of monitoring and evaluation of the quality of those relationships and partnership working.

A compact for the local area was established in 2005 by the Broxbourne Voluntary Sector Development Agency (now CVS for Broxbourne and East Herts) with input from the Borough Council and other local public bodies including Hertfordshire County Council, the local Primary Care Trust, Hertfordshire Constabulary and Hertford Regional College.

The document is available to download here and further information about the local compact and associated work to establish a Funding Code of Practice is available on the CVS website.
