Community Alarm Service
Peace
of mind with Broxbourne Community Alarm Service
Our service provides peace of mind for people who feel at risk
in their own home because of age, disability or isolation.
With the assistance of modern technology, a Broxbourne Community
Alarm provides the reassurance of a friendly voice and immediate
assistance when most needed.
The Community Alarm Service works via a special alarm telephone
(for people in general housing) or through a pullcord system (for
people in sheltered housing). The person in difficulty presses a
pendant worn round the neck or pulls the special cord. This sends
signals down the telephone line to the Control Centre where the
equipment is able to tell staff automatically from whom the call is
coming.
The community care officer and the person making the alarm call
are able to speak to one another, thereby enabling the community
care officer to assess the situation and arrange for assistance as
necessary.
If the person making the alarm call does not reply to the
community care officer, the officer will treat the call as urgent
and direct a named contact person, mobile community care officer or
emergency service to attend at the property and assess the
situation. The Council’s mobile community care officers all carry
radios whilst on duty and can be contacted by Central Control, at
any time, wherever they may be.
