Standards Committee
The Standards Committee exists to
ensure that elected Members maintain the high standard of conduct
that is expected of them. The Committee is made up of up
to 12 members; up to six independent members (one of whom
will be the Chairman) and six elected council members.
The Chairman of the Standards Committee
is appointed by the Committee at the Annual Meeting but must
be one of the independent members.
The Committee considers any complaints that
members of the council have breached the
Members Code of Conduct. Whilst it cannot deal with complaints
about other things, it can consider the wider ethical behaviour of
the council and make recommendations. The contact officer for the
Standards Committee is:
Head of Legal Services, Borough Offices,
Churchgate, Cheshunt, EN8 9XJ, telephone 01992 785555 or email to
legal@broxbourne.gov.uk.
