The Member of Parliament for Broxbourne from June 1983 to May
2005 was Dame Marion Roe DBE. Prior to becoming the
Conservative Member of Parliament for the Borough, Dame Marion
served on the Greater London Council. She was a Junior
Environment Minister in the 1980s and chaired select committees in
the 1990s. She stepped down prior to the 2005 General
Election when she was succeeded by Charles Walker.
Dame Marion was the first Member of Parliament for the
Broxbourne Constituency. Prior to this, the Borough of
Broxbourne was within the former East Hertfordshire Parliamentary
Constituency whose MP from 1955 to 1983 was Derek Walker-Smith.
