Hertfordshire Police and Crime Panel
The Police Reform and Social Responsibility
Act 2011 introduces significant changes in police governance and
accountability. Police Authorities have been replaced by
directly elected Police and Crime Commissioners (PCC). On 15
November 2012, voters elected Mr David Lloyd to serve until
May 2016 as Hertfordshire's
first PCC. The PCC has been given responsibility for the
way policing is delivered in the county and will hold the Chief
Constable to account for running the force. The PCC will decide how
funding related to policing and crime reduction is allocated and,
in consultation with the Chief Constable, set the strategic
direction and objectives of the force through their Police and
Crime Plan. Mr David Lloyd started in post on 22 November 2012.

The Hertfordshire Police and Crime Panel (PCP) has been
established to scrutinise and support the work of the PCC. The PCC
will be required to consult with the PCP on his plans and budget
for policing, as well as the council tax precept and certain key
appointments. Broxbourne Borough Council is the host local
authority for the PCP and will provide administrative and other
support to the panel and its members.
A new website for the
Hertfordshire PCP has been released. The website contains
information about the PCP, including its role and responsibilities,
membership and meetings. The purpose of this website is to support
the work of the PCP and ensure its operation is as transparent as
possible.
