Adult Learners' Week

Adult Learners’ Week 17-23 May 2008

Adult Learners Week

Broxbourne local learning partnership is offering various events and ‘taster’ opportunities as part of Adult Learners’ Week from 17-23 May to encourage residents to take up learning.  The Partnership has produced a colour A4 leaflet of the main events taking place throughout the week and this can be downloaded from the related links section on the right of the page.

Residents and organisations may participate in Hertford Regional College’s open evening on Wednesday 21 May from 5.30pm-8.30pm at both the Broxbourne and Ware centres. The Broxbourne centre is situated at The Springs, Turnford, Broxbourne, EN10 6AE. This provides an opportunity to meet the tutors, get advice on relevant courses and find out what the college is like.  The college offers a range of full-time and part-time courses, with flexible study options.  Further details about Hertford Regional College are available by telephoning 01992 411411.

Next Step Adult Learners WeekComputer ‘taster’ sessions will be run at Hoddesdon and Cheshunt Libraries throughout the week.  These sessions would suit beginners who would like to get started with computers and further information is available by calling 01438 737333.  There are also internet awareness sessions for parents on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 May, run by local schools.

The official opening of the new community room on the Holdbrook Estate in Waltham Cross on Wednesday 21 May will include adult learning activities and NextStep and Citizens Advice Bureau staff will be available to answer questions on jobs and legal issues and to offer money advice.

Other events on offer during the week include ‘Silver Surfer’ computer sessions on using the internet, local walks and talks on becoming a volunteer.

The Adult Learners’ Week leaflet is available from the Council’s one stop shops, local libraries and NextStep in Waltham Cross.  For further information on Adult Learners’ Week, residents can contact Marcella Randall on 01992 411868 or e-mail mrandall@hrc.ac.uk.
