Expiry of applications

How long does an application remain valid?

A new housing development under constructionBoth Full Plans Approvals and Building Notices are valid for three years after which they expire if the work has not commenced within this period. There is therefore no reason why a Full Plans Application should not be submitted well in advance of the date that work commences. A Building Notice must be submitted at least 48 hours before commencement.

Under certain circumstances, where building work has been carried out without a Building Control application being made, a Regularisation Certificate may be applied for.
