Broxbourne's Climate Change Strategy

To address the effects of climate change, the
Council has put in place a Draft Climate Change Strategy and Action
Plan. The Strategy focuses on mitigation – tackling the causes eg.
excessive dependency on carbon based fuels
and adaptation,which is preparing for the impacts of climate
change on the Borough.
The Council is working towards a target of
reducing its carbon output by 25 per cent against a 2008/2009
baseline by 2015. It is also working with local partners to agree
targets for carbon reduction across the Borough.
The Strategy sets out the challenges against
the following key themes:
- Leadership
- Carbon reduction
- Energy
- Transport
- Waste
- Water
- Biodiversity
- Risk management
- Encouraging positive action through education and
awareness
A series of actions have been identified have
been identified and grouped together into an action plan. The
actions involve the Council, business, residents and a range of
other climate change partners.
