Green Waste Plus Scheme - food waste and cardboard collections start August 2010

The Green Waste Plus scheme allows residents
to recycle a variety of food
waste and cardboard in their green wheeled bin
along with their green waste. All cooked and uncooked food is
accepted as well as most types of cardboard, with the exception of
tetra packs (fruit juice cartons) and waxed cardboard. It is
recommended that food waste is wrapped in newspaper to prevent
unnecessary spillages and odours.
Following a successful pilot of the Green Waste Plus scheme in
areas with a Thursday collection day, the Council is rolling out
the scheme boroughwide to all properties currently on the Green
Waste scheme.
From August, food waste and cardboard will
be collected from all existing green wheeled bins along with green
waste. Residents can start placing food waste and cardboard in
their wheeled bin after their last normal green waste collection in
July. The first boroughwide Green Waste Plus collections will take
place during the weeks commencing 2 or 9 August
2010 depending on residents’ collection week. Information
will be sent to residents on the scheme throughout June and July.
Details of your next collection day can be found here.
