Review of condition, location and suitability of street furniture and lighting
The lighting improvement scheme in Hoddesdon town centre
was completed in December 2011. New heritage style lanterns have
been installed on the existing lampposts at the northern end of the
High Street and the existing lighting has been upgraded to low
energy brighter ‘white’ lighting. The lighting levels in the
walkway between Sainsbury’s and the High Street have been improved.
The existing lighting at the southern end of the High Street has
been replaced with 12 new lampposts between Fawkon Walk and
Charlton Way, and new low-energy LED up-lighting has been installed
at the Clock Tower and War Memorial. The improved lighting is
expected to deliver a 40 per cent reduction in energy usage as well
as lower running costs. The total cost of the joint scheme between
Broxbourne Council and Hertfordshire County Council is in excess of
£100,000.
