Parking on dropped kerbs
From 2
August 2010 the Council started issuing Penalty Charge Notices to drivers who park on
the carriageway adjacent to a dropped kerb which has been provided
to assist pedestrians crossing the carriageway or vehicles entering
or leaving the carriageway.
This enforcement action is being taken by the Council
in response to complaints received from members of the public who
have their driveways blocked, and to ensure that minimum
inconvenience is caused to pedestrians, wheelchair and motability
scooter users and those pushing prams and pushchairs.
Residents whose drives are blocked by a parked
vehicle can contact the Council’s Helpline on 01992 785577.
Residents will be required to give their name, address, contact
number and a description of the vehicle and the registration number
if possible.
A Civil Enforcement Officer will attend as
soon as practicable during normal operating hours 8.30am to 5.30pm,
Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. If it is considered
that a contravention has occurred, a Penalty Charge
Notice will be issued and a penalty charge of £70 will be
issued.
