How to Pay a Penalty Charge Notice
A Penalty Charge may be paid in one of the following ways:
- Telephone - credit/debit
card payments only. Automated payment line 0845 601 7620 (24
hours/ seven days a week) or Broxbourne Helpline 01992 785501
during normal office hours Monday to Friday (excluding bank
holidays) and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. Please have
the vehicle details and PCN number ready.
- Post using the payment slip attached to the
Penalty Charge Notice below to: BCPC, PO Box 44, Waltham Cross,
Hertfordshire EN8 8XL. Cheques and postal orders
should be made payable to the Borough of Broxbourne. Please write
the PCN and vehicle registration no. on the back and allow
two working days for 1st class post and five for
2nd class
- In person at Broxbourne Council Offices,
Bishops College, Churchgate, Cheshunt or at Borough of Broxbourne
One Stop Shops at Unit 42, Tower Centre, Hoddesdon: Wolsey Hall,
Windmill Lane, Cheshunt: 123 High Street, Waltham Cross or at
Broxbourne Civic Hall, High Street, Hoddesdon during normal
business hours Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) and 9am
to 1pm on Saturdays
What happens if I do not challenge or pay the PCN?
- If the correct payment is not received and no written
representations have been received within 28 days, a Notice to
Owner will be issued
- If payment is not received within 28 days of the Notice to
Owner, the charge increases by 50 per cent, and a charge
certificate will be issued.
- Failure to pay the increased amount may result in registration
of the debt at County Court and bailiffs may be instructed to
recover the debt.
- It is therefore very important not to ignore the
PCN – either pay
it as soon as possible or write to the Council setting out the
details of your representation.
