Purple and clear sack scheme

Woman with clear and purple sacksThe purple sack pilot started in November 2007 in both the Goffs Oak and Rye Park areas. The clear sacks were introduced in December 2007. The joint sacks scheme has been rolled out across the Borough. Residents with a Thursday and Friday collection started on the 15 and 16 May 2008. From 23 and 24 September 2008 residents with a Tuesday and Wednesday collection were incorporated into the scheme. The final phase of the scheme started on 12 January 2009 for residents with a Monday collection.

Purple and clear sacks are now delivered on an annual basis every March. The scheme encourages residents to reduce their waste to one sack per week by reducing, reusing and recycling.
