Recycling at home
Each year, the Council collects about 25,000 tonnes of household
refuse and litter. The cost of disposing of refuse, which
is met by residents, is increasing. There are a lot of
ways that residents can minimise the amount of waste generated
at home as shown below or on the 'recycle more and
reduce your waste' leaflet found here.

Things to remember
- Please separate the materials within your kerbside box
- If you have too much material to place in the kerbside box then
additional items can be placed in similar containers such as
buckets or small storage boxes. Alternatively, you can
purchase additional boxes for £4.70 each from any of the
Council's one stop shops
- Please rinse or wash out your cans and plastic bottles, ideally
using your leftover washing up water
- Please keep your lid/net on the kerbside box. This will help to
prevent materials blowing away during periods of
severe weather
- If you see any broken glass please report it to the Council's Helpline
- Please leave your recyclables in a clearly visible
location at the boundary of your property
- Your recyclables must be available for collection by 7am
on your collection day
