Purple sack allocation
An allocation of 52 purple sacks is delivered to all
households in February/March of each year.
Purple sacks are
delivered to all households in the Borough on an annual basis.
Each household in the Borough will receive the equivalent of one
purple sack per week. If you do not receive your allocation of
refuse sacks by the end of March, please contact the Council's
Helpline on 01992 785577.
Refuse collections will continue to take place on a weekly
basis.
In the event of residents requiring more than the allocated 52
sacks, additional sacks can be purchased from the Council’s one
stop shops or from the Council Offices.
The Council understands that it may be difficult for some
households to reduce their waste to one sack per week. Therefore,
households who meet the following criteria may be considered for an
additional roll of purple sacks, the equivalent to an extra sack
per week:
- Households with six or more full time, permanent
residents.
- Significant (more than half a sack) non-clinical waste if
produced as a result of a medical condition.
- Residents with mobility issues (including exemptions) who find
it difficult to recycle sufficient material to reduce their refuse
to one sack or less.
If your household meets any of the above criteria please contact
the Helpline on 01992 785577 or e-mail purple@broxbourne.gov.uk
Refuse sacks should be securely tied and placed on the boundary
of your property by 7am on the day of your collection.
Please ensure...
- that no broken glass, needles or other sharp objects are put in
the refuse sacks.
- paint is not put in your refuse sack.
- refuse is not at risk of being wind blown as sweeping up
may escaped litter may put additional costs onto residents.
- sacks containing food scraps are kept safe from the
attention of cats, dogs and other marauding animals.
Has your refuse been missed?
