Purple sack delivery dates
Each year the Council delivers a free allocation of 52
purple sacks to residents, enough for one sack per week. By
reducing the number of sacks issued, residents can increase
the recycling rate and help deliver significant benefits for
the community such as:
- throwing less away and enabling more valuable material to be
recycled
- keeping down the costs to local taxpayers
- helping to cut the use of raw materials in industry and
conserve the world's natural resources
Information on the deliveries can be seen in the table
below.

A letter is delivered alongside the purple sacks each
year together with a calendar containing your collection
dates. If you did not receive a letter, or need to check your
collection dates, you can do so online.
As of August 2011 clear sacks are no longer used to
collect plastic bottles. Black kerbside boxes are now
used for the collection of plastic bottles and cans.
