Purple Sack 'Flatpack' Scheme

Following a successful trial, the purple sack 'flatpack' scheme was extended to an increased number of roads in the Borough.

In 2010, 1,800 properties were delivered 'flatpack' purple sacks through the letterbox in an attempt to reduce the number of reports of missed deliveries. Due to its success the pilot was extended for 2011 to a further 1,650 properties. These additional roads were chosen according to the number of reports of missed delivery received last year.

Flatpack Deliveries

Deliveries took place following normal deliveries and were completed by the end of March 2011. Residents received two 'flatpacks' of 26 purple sacks posted through the letterbox where possible, or by knocking on the door and hand delivering the sacks. Where this is not possible a letter was left asking the resident to collect their allocation from the nearest one stop shop.
