Clinical waste
Clinical waste is waste produced due to a medical condition
and should be stored and collected separately from general
rubbish. Clinical waste includes syringes and needles, swabs
and dressings, human tissue, blood and other bodily
fluids.
The Council provides residents with a clinical waste sack or
sharps box collection service through our contractor Broxbourne
Services.
Please see the leaflet here to
decide if you need to apply for the clinical waste service.
Alternatively non-hazardous waste produced as a result of a medical
condition can be placed in purple sacks.
Clinical sacks
Clinical sacks are collected on a weekly basis. It is a
'collect and replace' service. Broxbourne Services will leave you
with the same amount of empty sacks as they picked up.
Sharps boxes
Sharps boxes are collected on an 'as required' basis. Once
the box is nearly full we ask residents to call Broxbourne Services
on 01992 642240 to arrange a collection on the next Wednesday.
This is also a 'collect and replace' service.
To set up a clinical waste collection from your property, please
complete the
clinical
waste application form and return it to the Director of
Environmental Services, Borough Offices, Bishops' College,
Churchgate, Cheshunt, Herts, EN8 9XE. Alternatively
telephone 01992 785614 to request a hard copy. Please
ensure that a medical professional signs the form.
