Collections for large items
If you have good quality furniture, TVs, computers or white
goods (such as fridges and freezers) please consider donating to a
local reuse scheme. This is a better option than throwing it
away and someone else gets to benefit from it. The below links
provide further information.
The Freecycle Network is a
non-profit community gifting movement made up of thousands of local
and individual city groups that promote reuse. Members have the
opportunity to give and receive items for free, in an effort
to prevent unnecessary waste being thrown away.
The Furniture Reuse Network is the
national body which supports, assists and develops charitable
re-use organisations across the UK. They help to reduce poverty by
helping households in need access furniture, white goods and other
items at affordable prices.
If your waste is not suitable for reuse you can take it to a
household waste recycling centre for free. Alternatively, Broxbourne
Services can collect these items at a cost.
If you have employed a contractor such as a builder or a plumber
to carry out work in your home, make sure they remove any waste
generated.
