Graffiti

Graffiti can spoil the enjoyment of the local environment and if
not cleared can lead to a situation where crime and other
anti-social behaviours can thrive. If graffiti is not dealt
with it can lead to a negative perception of an area, including
fostering a feeling that 'nobody cares'. This leads to further
crime and anti-social behaviour.
Graffiti identified on private property is
inspected and photographed. The property owner is then
contacted and asked to remove the graffiti. Graffiti on
Council-owned land or communications boxes will be removed within
24 hours if offensive, or otherwise will be generally be removed
within a week. To report graffiti of these types either
contact the Helpline on 01992 785577 or click the 'Report it'
option in the 'Online Services' box on the top right of the
page.
Graffiti on highway structures (eg. road
bridges) should be referred to Hertfordshire County Council on
01438 737320.
