Alcohol control zone

Waltham Cross renaissance

A number of initiatives to improve community safety in the Waltham Cross area have been introduced, including the:

  • funding of an additional police community support officer (PCSO) in July 2008, which increased the Waltham Cross Safer Neighbourhood Team to the largest in the Borough, consisting of two police constables and five PCSOs
  • development of a police patrol base in Waltham Cross town centre in December 2008 to put the local policing team closer to their community
  • introduction of an alcohol control zone in Waltham Cross town centre in February 2009
  • introduction of automatic number plate recognition cameras in April 2009 to deter cross border criminality
  • extending the Waltham Cross town centre CCTV system in October 2008 and June 2009 to increase coverage around the local subways and the railway station.
