Park Plaza North

Waltham Cross renaissance

The Council’s Planning and Licensing Committee approved the Park Plaza North development brief in July 2010. It sets out the vision for the site. The site will provide quality employment opportunities to the local community and will be an integral element of the wider renaissance of Waltham Cross. A comprehensively planned scheme is sought which would include a mix of business, high technology industries, research and development, supported by uses such as a hotel.

Park Plaza North provides one of the best locations in North London and Hertfordshire for the creation of a serviced business park for multiple small and medium sized businesses or a smaller number of major businesses. The opportunity to create company headquarter(s) or national/regional offices in high technology and class leading industries with excellent access to London and the south east will dictate proposals for the development. The site is particularly suited to the Hertfordshire priorities of research and development, digital, creative and media, high technology manufacturing and health care.

There is a shortage of hotels within the Borough. The Council would therefore welcome additional hotel accommodation at Park Plaza North. The design would need to be of high quality and be compatible with the development of the remainder of the site. The hotel(s) could include restaurant, conference and leisure uses so long as these are not free standing, are ancillary to the main use of the site and provide facilities which complement and support the wider development.
