Waltham Cross renaissance map

Waltham Cross renaissance

Waltham Cross railway station, Waltham Cross town centre, Park Plaza, Theobalds Grove and sites near to the Lee Valley White Water Centre are areas which will benefit from the Waltham Cross renaissance.

Waltham Cross renaissance funding

The Waltham Cross renaissance and associated works are funded from various sources, including the Council’s capital and revenue programmes, Hertfordshire County Council’s capital programme for highway works, Section 106 contributions from new developments, grants via the Broxbourne Local Strategic Partnership and Hertfordshire Forward, specific Government grants and private sector investment.

Council's capital and revenue programmes

The Council allocated £361,000 in 2011/12 towards the first phase of its integrated package of environmental improvements, in addition to funding carried over from previous years. The Waltham Cross Draft Town Centre Strategy proposes that this work is brought forward within the next two years.

Section 106 contributions

Section 106 contributions have been used to fund the following schemes:

  • £100,000 towards the redevelopment of Waltham Cross railway station
  • £92,000 towards the improvements at Theobalds Grove railway station

  • £11,000 towards the installation of the Waltham Cross CCTV system
