Exhibitor Feedback
BalloonTraining
Academy
Jo Uddin, leading tutor and award
winning balloon artist, Balloon Training Academy

“This time last year I was unemployed and it’s
because of the help I received from Jobcentre Plus, Waltham Cross
that I decided to exhibit – I wanted to give back to the local
community. Jobcentre Plus helped re-build my confidence and
enthusiasm so that I could put to good use the skills I have gained
over the years as a balloon artist. Balloon Training Academy
launched in September 2011 and we have recently opened a new
training room in Delamare Road, Cheshunt. We had a fantastic
response and even run out of brochures! It was nice to bring some
life and colour to the event and hope to take part next year.
Anyone interested should visit our website.”
Hertfordshire Police
Jean Starkey, recruitment assistant,
resources unit, Herts Police
“Hertfordshire Police has attended the Jobs
and Skills Fair since the very first event. This year we were
recruiting for Special Constables in the local area.
This type of work can provide fantastic experience and
will develop you with an excellent range of skills for future job
hunting.”
Mary Kay
Sandra Chingwena, senior beauty
consultant, Mary Kay
“I attended the Jobs and Skills Fair as a
representative of Mary Kay in order to help recruit self employed
beauty consultants. The business model we use is really flexible,
meaning consultants, like myself, can balance work and home life.
For busy mums who want to earn some extra cash, it’s ideal. I spoke
with lots of visitors that were looking for flexible employment and
I told them all the same thing ‘you get out of it what you put
in.”
Hertford Regional
College
Teresa Claridge, Adult Guidance
Advisor, HertfordRegional College
Herford Regional College (HRC) delivered a
workshop at the Jobs and Skills Fair this year, designed to help
job seekers with CV writing. Teresa Claridge, Adult Guidance
Advisor at HRC said “we have had many enquiries relating to the
courses that we have introduced that are specifically aimed at
people claiming job seekers allowance. These courses cover
retail, warehousing, basic IT, Sage accounting, child care,
adult care and food hygiene. Anyone interested in these
courses can call Teresa on 01992 411574.”
Cheshunt Marriott
Sophia Montagna, human resources
co-ordinator, Cheshunt and Waltham Abbey Marriott
“We decided to take part in the event due to
us being a local business as well as having an opportunity to
represent ourselves and our company. We at the time had vacancies
for guest services agent, guest service supervisor, commis chef,
demi chef de partie, kitchen porter, food and beverage associate
and as casual guest room attendants.
We were very pleased with the number of
applicants and the interest in our company and our roles. Some
applicants have already had interviews and we will look to take
part in future events should they arise.”
