Allotments
The average allotment is
a plot of land comprising 250 square metres. You can grow
fruit and vegetables, plants and flowers on it. There are a number
of allotment sites throughout the Borough of Broxbourne. Allotment
sites are listed in the allotments leaflet, or
you can email leisure@broxbourne.gov.uk,
or telephone 01992 785508 to find your nearest site.
Benefits of having an allotment
More people are taking an interest in the kind of food they eat.
An allotment allows you to grow and eat fresh fruit and vegetables.
It is also an enjoyable and rewarding pastime with the added bonus
of regular exercise in the fresh air. Tending an allotment can
provide an excellent means of getting away from it all and provides
a good opportunity to meet new friends.
How much does it cost?
The cost of renting an allotment varies according to the size of
the plot. Concessionary rates are available for residents over 60
years of age. Please contact the Council on 01992 785508 or email
leisure@broxbourne.gov.uk for more information.
Allotment Watch
Allotment Watch volunteers monitor the condition of their
allotment site and respond to any instances of vandalism. To join
Allotment Watch please telephone 01992 785508 or email
