What is 'Active Broxborne' CSN?
A Community Sports Network (CSN) is a collection of people or
organisations who have a desire to develop and promote sport and
physical activity in their local area. The overall aims are to
increase participation and widen access opportunities.
The 'Active Broxbourne' CSN will work to promote and develop
sporting activity in the Borough of Broxbourne for the benefit of
all members of the community. It will operate at a local
level and aim to improve sports development and sports people at
every level. It will seek to add value to what is already
going on in helping professionals and volunteers to be more
effective.
Active Broxbourne are organising their second annual
Broxbourne Sports Awards to celebrate the talent and dedication of
local sporting individuals and clubs. The event will take place at
Broxbourne Civic Hall on Wednesday 27 January 2010. The evening
will include a special guest star, buffet, licensed bar and

What can the 'Active Broxbourne' CSN do for
Sport?
- Be a voice for sport in the Borough

- Adopt a strategic approach to funding for sport, ensuring
opportunities are harnessed within an overall local framework
- Develop and improve communications that effectively keeps key
officers, council members, sports people, clubs and others
interested aware of sport and sports issues, opportunities and
problems
- Be an advocate for sport
- Facilitate effective communication and maintain an integrated
database of membership
- Provide the forum for consultation with Sport England on key
issues affecting sport
- Provide information on local sports clubs, sporting and
coaching opportunities, advice and funding
- Provide and advise the Council on allocation of community
grants and opportunity for excellence awards
- Raise awareness and the profile of sport in the Borough
- Recruit more people into sport as participants, volunteers,
officials, spectators.
- Promote and develop sporting activity in Active
Broxbourne.
Aims of Active Broxbourne
- To develop sport and physical activity for the benefit of the
community
- To develop effective communication between local sporting and
physical activity agencies
- To establish a sport/physical activity advisory and
consultative role
- To encourage and facilitate participation in grass root
activities
- To maximise the development and use of facilities
- To work with all partners to support the development of clubs,
coaching, volunteering and community support for sport/physical
activity
- To develop an annual action plan in consultation with 'Active
Broxbourne' members and the wider sporting community
How to get involved
The date of the next Active Broxbourne meeting is November 11,
at Broxbourne Sports Club, starting at 7.30am. 'Active Broxbourne'
CSN is open to all local sports clubs, schools, sports groups,
coaches, volunteers, participants and governing bodies that provide
or work for those involved with sport and physical activity within
the Borough of Broxbourne. If you are interested in joining this

Livewire
Livewire is the Hertfordshire name for the
Sport Unlimited funding to support the PESSYP 5-hour offer. Active
Broxbourne has received funding in order to supply sporting
activities as part of this and have organised the following
projects

Inclusion FC unified football
These activities are all offered at low cost,
providing young people between the ages of 11 and 19 with the
opportunity to participate in extra physical activity, and enjoy
