Pro’s View

Adrian Shearn, Cheshunt Golf Professional says of the course “with a total length of 6,635 yards this par 71 demands good distance and accuracy off the tee to enable 2nd and 3rd shots to reach the greens. A challenging but fair test of golf played in natural and pleasing surroundings on a course that is maintained to a high standard.”

Pro’s Tips

Hole 1- A tough first driving hole. A long par 5 so you need to fully concentrate from the first shot.  Out of bounds all the way down the right.

Hole 2 - The shortest par 4 on the course, but by no means the easiest. A tee shot past the bunker should leave a relatively easy approach to a narrow green. Avoid the water.

Hole 3 - A very long par 3 that often plays into the wind. Accuracy is key as the green is surrounded by bunkers.

Hole 4 - A birdie chance if played correctly. A 3 wood/long iron will leave a short approach over the oak tree.

Hole 5 - Stroke Index 1 and for a very good reason. You will need two good shots just to reach this green. Two putts is not an easy task on this two tier green.

Hole 6 - A big dog-leg from right to left on this tricky par 4.  The tee shot favours a draw. The approach is no walkover either and you will need a pinpoint shot to hit the green.

Hole 7 - A green which sits heavily from back to front awaits you on this par 3. Leave your approach below the pin. The front bunker makes the hole feel shorter than it is.

Hole 8 - The tee shot favours a fade. Be careful not to overdo it as deep rough awaits up the right.

Hole 9 - Another tough par 4 to finish the front 9; you definitely need two good shots to reach this green. Remember the approach shot is up hill so an extra club may be needed.

Hole 10 - The back 9 starts with a long par 4 where par is a great score. The tee shot should be aimed at the bunker with a fade.

Hole 11 - Make sure you take enough club to carry the bunkers as anything short will leave a difficult up and down.

Hole 12 - A good birdie chance if you can hit the fairway. Missing the green right will leave a relatively easy up and down.

Hole 13 - There’s two ways to play this hole. You can either lay up short of the ditch with a long iron or hit driver leaving you a short approach in.

Hole 14 - A par 4 that plays up hill. You can play short of the bunkers or try to thread the ball between them. Approaches with a lot of spin can spin off the green.

Hole 15 - A difficult driving hole with trouble all down the right and bunkers awaiting you on the fairway. Club selection is key to this long green.

Hole 16 - The line is the pylon off the tee. A long iron will leave a medium iron to the green.

Hole 17 - You can take dead aim at this short par 3. The green slopes from back to front so spin can hurt you here.

Hole 18 - A par 5 finish that will take 3 good shots to arrive safely on this green. A pond to the right of the green awaits the wayward approach shots.
