The Council is planning a multi-million pound refurbishment of Grundy Park Leisure Centre to make it fit for the 21st century. This is part of the Council’s ongoing investment in leisure and sports facilities throughout the Borough.
The Council intends to create an environment which encourages more participation in healthy activity and sports, particularly as the Borough is host to the London 2012 Games.
Grundy Park Leisure Centre opened to the public in 1985 with swimming facilities, with other facilities being added later such as the gym, in 1990. Over 500,000 people use the centre every year. Although there has been substantial capital investment over the years in both the structure and fabric of the building, the Council wishes to significantly upgrade the building and the user experience.
