Your questions
answered…
Below are the answers to some
questions you may have about the proposed development works at
Grundy Park Leisure Centre. If you have any further questions you
may wish to attend one of the Meet the Manager Sessions or complete
a customer comment card available from reception at the centre.
What’s included in the
proposals?
• Reception refurbishment including
a new merchandise area
• New ground floor café onto the
park
• Refurbished wetside changing
rooms including:
• School changing rooms
• Family changing village
• Refurbished dryside changing
rooms
• New energy efficiency facilities
(harvesting rain water to use in toilets for example)
• Extended Fit&Well gym
When will the work
start?
The Council hope to start works
during 2012. The Council is fully committed to a development at
Grundy Park Leisure Centre, although all plans are currently at the
proposal stage.
How long will the proposed
development works take?
Phase one (development of one
squash court into a spinning studio) is now complete – the
Council is still considering the feasibility of adding a mezzanine
level above the new spinning studio. At this time it is estimated
that the works will be completed in 2013 – the Council is looking
at the feasibility to carry out the works over a 12 to 18 month
period and will seek to keep the timescale to a minimum. Work will
be phased during this time, however phase dates and areas are to be
determined by feasibility studies, consultation and appointment of
contractors.
Are all of the proposed
developments taking place at the same time?
No. They will be phased to minimise
disruption at the centre.
Will the centre close at
all throughout the proposed development works?
The priority aim is to minimise
service disruption and keep all activities and services open. Any
closures or service implications/changes will be planned/notified
to customers well in advance. During changing room refurbishments,
temporary changing facilities may be provided as an alternative.
Wolsey Hall may also be used as an alternative location for some
activities. The aim is to keep all service areas open with only
minimal closures, however there may need to be amendments to
opening hours of particular services.
I have noticed that there
is a temporary health suite on the plans. Why is this?
The temporary health suite is to
keep these facilities open to the public whilst a new health suite
is built downstairs. In the long term, the use of the area
designated to the temporary health suite is still being considered.
The Council is encouraging you to put forward your ideas on
what these areas will be used for.
Will my membership fee
increase once the developments have finished?
No. There could be an annual
inflationary rise in prices across all the leisure facilities
managed by Broxbourne Council, but this has always been the
case.
Will my membership fee
decrease during the development works?
No. This is why the Council is
committed to keeping activities and services open.
Where is the money for the
development coming from?
Broxbourne Council will be funding
this work from its capital programme.
Will the centre still offer
all of its current facilities once the development has taken
place?
Yes and more!
Will the car park be
expanded?
The need and feasibility for this
is being considered as part of the development and customers and
local residents will be consulted on any proposals.
I have some more questions,
who can I speak to about these?
Come along to one of the Meet the
Manager sessions held at the centre, see the further information
page for details of these dates.
I can’t attend any of the
Meet the Manager sessions but I still have some questions I
would like answered?
