The London 2012 Games
Which London 2012
Olympic and Paralympic Games event will Broxbourne
host?
As you walk through Broxbourne in the summer of 2012 you will
notice a sense of anticipation in the air. Streets will be
transformed with banners containing the emblem of the London 2012
Games. There will be a carnival-feeling as spectators from all
parts of the globe come to Broxbourne to see the world’s greatest
canoeists compete for Gold. Broxbourne can feel proud of hosting
the White Water Canoe Slalom competition as part of the London 2012
Olympic Games, being at the centre of the excitement, and
ultimately playing a part in the greatest sporting event in the
world.

A safe and secure
Games
Delivering a safe and secure Games is a top priority for
Hertfordshire Constabulary. The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire
Olympic Planning Team is busy finalising plans for a smooth
policing operation that will ensure spectators visiting the Lee
Valley White Water Centre can enjoy this once in a lifetime
experience.
Despite all the excitement that will be happening at the venue,
residents can be assured that local policing will not be affected
in any way. Officers from the Borough’s safer neighbourhood teams
will continue to carry out their patrols as normal and will be
addressing the concerns that matter to local people, such as
anti-social behaviour. Residents will still be able to meet
with their local officers at one of their many neighbourhood
‘surgeries’ or other events.
The police are also working with the Council and Hertfordshire
County Council to help minimise disruption to residents, businesses
and commuters.
