Iconic Art is the work of
self-taught artist, Cliff Matthews who has been
influenced by the Pop movement. His speciality is painting the
famous; from sporting heroes to film stars and music legends. All
of his work is hand-painted
and
brush applied, yet each has the appearance of a stencilled or
screen printed image. Although influenced by the Pop
style, his paintings have more depth and less vivid colour
contrasts than many pop artists as Cliff prefers the
monochrome look, leaving the mind to expand on the subject 'like a
good radio play should'. Cliff was lucky enough to be chosen by
Stephanie Moore to paint her late husband, footballing legend Bobby
Moore, and he is now attracting interest from other sporting
celebrities.
