One stop shops go cashless

As from Wednesday 1 February, all three of the Council’s one stop shops will no longer take cash. Residents will still be able to pay with debit and credit cards and cheques. hodd one stop shop

Following a review of the service, the Council has learned that the overall number of customers paying with cash in each of the one stop shops has reduced year on year.   As a result, cash payments will no longer be accepted.

All existing services will remain and the Council will continue to provide customer service advisors at each of the one stop shops in Hoddesdon, Waltham Cross and Cheshunt. These customer service advisors are on hand to assist residents with any Council service including benefits, Council Tax, housing, recycling and refuse and general enquiries. Planning applications are available to view online at the Waltham Cross and Hoddesdon one stop shops while hard copies are available at the Wolsey Hall, Cheshunt shop.

To ensure minimum disruption, the Council has made arrangements for purple sacks to be available at a number of facilities throughout the Borough including Bishops’ College, Broxbourne Civic Hall, Cheshunt Park Golf Course, Grundy Park Leisure Centre and John Warner Sports Centre where cash payments will be accepted.

Local post offices in Waltham Cross, Cheshunt and Hoddesdon will accommodate residents who wish to continue paying cash for Council tax, invoices and penalty charge notices. The payment kiosk at Bishops’ College also accepts cash for a range of Council services.

Residents are reminded that they can still make payments via the website, they can call the Helpline on 01992 785577 or use the automated telephone line; 0845 601 7620 that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For further information about alternative methods of payment, please pick up a leaflet from any of the Council’s one stop shops or call the Helpline on 01992 785577.
