Civic Visitors come to Broxbourne

Town Twinning event

Mayor of Broxbourne, Councillor Mark Mills-Bishop and Leader of the Council, Councillor Paul Mason welcomed mayors from the twin town of Sutera, Sicily and Dillingen in Germany (also twinned with Sutera) at an official reception at the Council Offices; the reception included a guided tour of the Council Chamber and Mayor’s Parlour.

This was one of a series of events planned over the Bank Holiday weekend, organised by the Broxbourne and Sutera Town Twinning Association.

Town Twinning Football match

The three towns took part in a five a-side football competition.  The first leg of the tournament was held in Sutera at Easter, the second leg in Dillingen at the May Bank Holiday weekend and the third leg here in Broxbourne over the last Bank Holiday weekend.  The competition ended in a three way draw so everyone turned out to be winners!

On Sunday the civic visitors attended the San Paolino Festival in Waltham Cross before returning to their home towns.
